Greetings from the SCU Accounting Department!
In AY 2023-24, over 110 students declared accounting and accounting and information systems (A&IS) as their major. This represents the largest cohort of rising juniors in accounting and A&IS that we have had at SCU in the last ten years.

Accounting Leadership Series 2023-2024 program featured guest speakers Eric Ludwig (SCU '91), Joseph Wattoo (SCU '09), Jie Pan (SCU '06), and Brigitte Ho, SCU '95. The Accounting Department continues to host research workshops as part of our commitment to support faculty research. We invite nationally and internationally recognized scholars to present their research projects at Santa Clara University. These workshops provide opportunities for SCU faculty to interact with leading-edge scholars in the field and to present their own early-stage research to solicit valuable feedback. Read more >>
The Accounting Department offers a seminar series for students who are interested in developing a broader understanding of accounting-related business issues. These seminars introduce students to current issues in accounting that may not be included in the regular curriculum. Read more >>

Accounting Boards
For the 2023-2024 academic year, the SCU Accounting Advisory Board convened in October 2023, January 2024, and in May 2024 (a joint meeting with the Alumni Board). The Board discussed how to better prepare our students with data analytics and interview skills. Read more >>
The SCU Accounting Alumni Board convened in December 2023, March 2024, and in May 2024 (a joint meeting with the Advisory Board). The Alumni Board is a diverse group of accounting professionals who provide career mentorship, development, and networking opportunities to current students. Read more >>

On October 7, 2024, Officers Jessica Pu, Maia Murphy, Brendan Arias, and Cassidy Furutani from the SCU Accounting Association interviewed SCU’s newly appointed Executive Vice President and Provost James Glaser. Read more >>

Accounting Association News
Congratulations to Professor Matthew Cedergren for receiving the 2024 Accounting Professor of the Year Award on May 15, 2024 at the Accounting Awards Banquet. The award is voted annually by graduating seniors in the SCU Accounting Association. Professor Cedergren has worked for the Accounting Department at Santa Clara since 2020 and has grown to be a favorite of many seniors when it comes to accounting professors. Read more >> |
The SCUAA successfully hosted many events during the 2023-2024 academic year, including in person career fairs with accounting firms. They assisted students in preparing for the career fairs by providing pre-event interactive workshops and also inviting a CPA exam review company to present on the latest CPA exam guidelines.
