The Wine FUNdamentals SIG meets in person once a month for educational wine tastings and visits to local wineries. There are over 50 wineries of every size and shape in the Santa Clara Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) alone, all the way from long-established century-year family operations to smaller newcomers. The viticulture history here began over 250 years ago, and the first European cuttings were planted at the historic Mission Santa Clara by Franciscan Monks. Everyone is welcome! There is so much for us to explore and taste, because in addition to long-established wine making practices here in the valley, modern wine producers are also experimenting with natural, organic, and biodynamic processes.
