Help us reach our campaign goal of $25,000 for the 2015-16 Year!

Dear OLLI@SCU Members and Friends,

During this season of remembrance and thanksgiving, it is important to acknowledge you, our members, and the volunteer leaders who are the driving force behind the success of OLLI.

With your vision and determination, close to 1,100 OLLI members filled the classrooms and performance halls of Santa Clara University last year. Many attended social events, joined Special Interest Groups and, in an amazing show of support for Lifelong Learning Through Travel, about 120 of you – more than 10% of our membership – traveled the world with OLLI!

It has been an exciting year of growth:

  • Almost 200 new members brought our total membership to 1,099
  • Course enrollments increased from 2,828 to 4,055
  • We moved to a new home in Guadalupe Hall with priority classroom scheduling
  • More than $23,000 was raised in gifts from individual members and friends
  • Arts and Sciences Dean Debbie Tahmassebi named OLLI a strategic “College Initiative”

Dean Tahmassebi is committed to lifelong learning and its value to a meaningful life: “OLLI is the pulse of lifelong learning at Santa Clara. What is especially exciting to me is that the College of Arts and Sciences is the heart of the University; how appropriate then that the College and OLLI are partners in building a community that values and appreciates learning for the sake of learning.”

Lifelong learning is not a pastime; it is a way of life.

We want your OLLI@SCU experience to be engaging, enriching, and enjoyable. All of you, lifelong learners who relish knowledge and creativity in all its forms, are not only vitalized as individuals, but we, as a community, are vitalized, as well.

Annual fundraising plays an important part in OLLI’s success. Our annual giving campaign supports efforts to attract and retain top-notch instructors, offer high-quality curriculum and programming, provide well-appointed classroom space, and keep membership and course fees low. Member and community support of OLLI is also important stewardship, as it demonstrates to the Osher Foundation that we are committed to the success of OLLI@SCU.

We look forward to your continued participation and, as always, look forward to hearing your thoughts on how we might improve for the future, and how you will support our efforts. As you plan your year-end giving, please remember what OLLI brings to your life and consider a donation to OLLI@SCU. Please use the enclosed envelope, or make your online gift today (

Best wishes for a new year filled with peace and joy.
