Santa Clara University

  • We use minimal fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides on our landscaping, only as the last option.
  • All landscape waste is either composted or chipped to be used as mulch on campus.
  • California native plants are used throughout campus, where appropriate, and a native plant garden is adjacent to Heafey Law Library.
  • Bioswales, which use plants and gentle slopes to purify rainwater runoff, are found next to Schott Admission and Enrollment Services, North Parking Structure, Locatelli Student Activities Center, Graham Hall, and Schott Stadium.
  • Current projects underway include piloting native California sedge species as an alternative to current lawns and reaching 100% recycled water on campus grounds.
