East Bay                                                                                                                                      Join OLLI as we explore four East Bay buildings that are world-renowned examples of the rich and varied Bay Area architectural heritage. At each of these remarkable venues, we will enjoy a private tour. Lunch, which is included, will be served in the period library of Julia Morgan-designed Berkeley City Club. Transportation to and from the Easy Bay will be provided by bus from Santa Clara University.

Our Pre-trip Enrichment Lecture will feature Mark A. Wilson, author of "Julia Morgan: Architect of Beauty." Wilson is an architectural historian with extensive college and university-level teaching experience, and a popular lecturer. In addition to his books, his articles have appeared in the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Los Angeles Times. His presentation, "The Legacy of Bernard Maybeck and Julia Morgan," will explore the design philosophy of these great Bay Area architects that came to be known as the "First Bay Tradition." Outstanding examples of their buildings will be featured and compared with their two most famous sites, Maybeck's Palace of Fine Arts and Morgan's Hearst Castle.
