Introducing MOBI On Demand
MOBI Expands Free Entrepreneurship Education Accessibility with Audio and Video Curriculum, Launching MOBI On Demand and a New Course
My Own Business Institute (MOBI), the world’s leading provider of free online entrepreneurship education, today increased its commitment to accessibility by unveiling MOBI On Demand: a new audio and video collection of the most popular topics in its extensive entrepreneurship curriculum. The first course in the MOBI On Demand library, Small Business Essentials, is available now for free on MOBI’s learning management system.
“This is an incredible milestone for us!” said Drew Starbird, Ph.D., MOBI Executive Director and Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business Professor, Information Systems and Analytics. “Accessible free education is the cornerstone of MOBI’s mission to empower and inspire entrepreneurship around the world. By providing our curriculum in audio and video formats we hope to bring our curriculum to even more aspiring business owners, including those with particular demands on their schedules, those who have specific learning preferences or differences, and those who enjoy a more dynamic educational experience — all with the independence and flexibility of online learning.”
MOBI collaborated with Emmy-winning producer Forever Ready Productions in Memphis, Tenn., to create its innovative MOBI On Demand audio and video curriculum. Together they set out to deliver a new learner experience while adhering to the same high quality, actionable, understandable, and accessible entrepreneurial education for which MOBI is known around the world. Each MOBI On Demand video production includes a main presenter as well as visual elements such as graphics, slides, video clips, and more to highlight key points, illustrate ideas, and keep viewers engaged.
“We were thrilled to be a part of this transformational project with the My Own Business Institute,” said Lauren Ready, Forever Ready Productions Owner and Principal Storyteller and a MOBI On Demand curriculum presenter (pictured left). “We collaborate with a variety of nonprofit organizations and businesses to tell stories that drive mission and engagement, and as a business owner I felt it was especially inspiring to bring this free curriculum to life in a new format, empowering more people to chase their dreams of starting a business.”
MOBI is piloting MOBI On Demand: Small Business Essentials exclusively on its learning management system. Small Business Essentials introduces aspiring business owners to ten topics that are vital for starting a business. Students learn how to select the right business, choose the appropriate legal structure, identify financing options, understand accounting fundamentals, and implement effective marketing strategies, including creating an online presence and selling their intended product or service. Learners who select this course can choose their learning experience: audio, video, text, or a combination of all three. Small Business Essentials is currently available in English, and subtitles in either English or Spanish can be viewed with the video experience.
By offering its curriculum in audio and video formats, MOBI brings an expanded level of accessibility and flexibility to learners around the world. For example:
- Learners who prefer and enjoy audio- and video-based continual learning opportunities.
- Learners who have little time for education due to current employment, home and care responsibilities, long commuting times, and many other life demands.
- Learners with diverse learning styles, preferences, and unique approaches to understanding and retaining educational content.
- Learners who would like to gain confidence by increasing their familiarity with the usage of business terminology.
