Mariana Perera ’20, Fullbright Scholar and 2019-2020 Hackworth Fellow with the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University developed a student-focused website offering new voters resources to help them better understand the key ethical issues associated with the upcoming 2020 presidential election.
Americans, especially those new to the political process, may lack an understanding of how their government works and are often unaware of the ethical dilemmas considered by politicians and voters. From voting rights and Covid-19 to gender equity and impeachment, these decisions play a critical role in how our society and democracy function.
In addition to the creation of the student-focused website Mariana's perspectives are published as part of the Ethic's Center's COVID-19: Ethics, Health and Moving Forward Spotlight.
