Mark Niu reports for CGTN about the role social media plays in the spread of misinformation, particularly regarding the upcoming election. Various social media sites have come out with statements of their intent to catch and minimize misinformation on their platforms, but the issue remains prevalent in the weeks leading up to the election. 

Subbu Vincent, the Director of Media and Journalism Ethics at the Center, states "Social media continues to be challenged by how to handle misinformation from politicians because lies can often be of newsworthy value. Deciding whether to take it down requires a judgement on the harm it could cause."
