"The increasing use of AI/ML for clinical decision support presents important ethical concerns beyond the much-explored issues of data privacy and the potential for bias. Two features of AI/ML in clinical decision making—shared agency between the physician and the machine, and the “explainability” of the machine’s decisions—raise important ethical and legal questions about how to assign responsibility for medical decisions."
