There is a necessity for government officials to have transparency in their spending to prevent financial misconduct.

“This is a significant indiscretion, anytime you are violating the policies that you're charged with upholding,” Skeet said. “There’s a clear city policy that says that any personal relationship should be disclosed, and this personal relationship wasn't disclosed. She’s in a position of leadership, and one in which you want people to have confidence and trust in their public government. And so anything that erodes that trust is problematic.”
