Gilbert Backed Those key to tax Vote

John Pelissero, senior scholar, quoted by Detroit Free Press.

Detroit officials who will decide Gilbert tax break got major campaign contributions.

"Whenever it comes to campaign finances, it's always a risk for elected officials to accept significant money from a developer or any other benefit in any way from the city's contracts," said John Pelissero, senior scholar at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University and a professor emeritus of political science at Loyola University Chicago.

"The ethical concern is that these council members all have what appears to be a conflict of interest," Pelissero said. "They have been taking money from the developers in the form of campaign funds and now they are about to award a significant project to those who have been helping to fund their political funds.
