AI is About to Blow up the $3 Billion College Application Industry

Tech startups are helping students narrow school selection, highlight extracurricular activities, and emulate the role of the private college counselor, and even may help students draft and improve their applications through the use of artificial intelligence.

AI generally, and now these specific college application help applications, is raising concerns about cheating, originality, and academic integrity.

Irina Raicu, director of the internet ethics program at Santa Clara University’s Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, expressed another concern: how the companies will use the personal information collected from students.
