At one moment in last week’s widely reported visit of Donald Trump to the National Association of Black Journalists’ (NABJ) convention, he asked host ABC News’ Rachel Scott to “define DEI.” Scott simply expanded the abbreviation to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. When Trump pressed for it again, she insisted that she had defined it and reframed her question. But she did not define the words.
