On December 9, 2024, Santa Clara University President Julie Sullivan presented longtime SCU and Ethics Center supporters Marty Melone ’63, Donna Melone, David Melone ’95, and Denise Melone ’06 with a Founders Society Award and Bronco statue recognizing and honoring the Melone Family for their ongoing connections and involvement to both SCU and the Ethics Center. The Founders Society is an inclusive distinction for individuals who contribute more than $1 Million to initiatives throughout SCU.
In addition to his many SCU program contributions, in 2018, Marty and Donna established the Melone Family Endowment for Ethics Education in support of the Ethics Center's Business Ethics Internship Program. The program provides SCU students with experiences Marty believes critical; a firsthand view of business through placement in local corporations with an emphasis on ethics, and learning the value of recognizing problems when they occur, and the importance of speaking up as needed to keep ethics at the forefront.
Marty Melone was an SCU Regent 2006-2018 and is a regent emeritus, and he served on the Ethics Center Advisory Board from 2008-2021. Marty's daughter, and SCU Alumna, Denise Melone ’06 currently serves on the Ethics Center Advisory Board and continues the work that Marty and Donna originally made possible.
The Ethics Center is filled with gratitude for the generosity of time, talent, and treasure that the Melone Family has so graciously provided, and congratulate the Melone Family on being recognized into the Founders Society.
