The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics welcomes Tara Seracka to the Ethics Center Advisory Board, a collection of distinguished professionals in the off-campus community who provide assistance in event planning, fundraising, Center external communications, and outside, independent perspectives.

Seracka, a Santa Clara alumna, has served as an Advisor on the Internet Ethics Advisory Council since October, 2023.

She is currently the Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Cisco Systems, Inc. In this role, Seracka leads a global team of 75 lawyers and legal professionals responsible for legal strategy and guidance across Cisco’s product portfolio and engineering organization. She has also supported and served on a senior leadership team of five Engineering Executive Vice Presidents at Cisco.

Prior to this role, Seracka led the Enterprise Networking & Cloud Legal team as General Counsel of Meraki, a Cisco acquisition. Before joining Meraki in 2015, Seracka worked in private practice as a finance and technology attorney at the international law firms of Orrick and Perkins Coie.

In addition to studying business and art history at Santa Clara University, Seracka’s educational background includes a Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School and a CIPP/E certification.

In addition to her career with Cisco, Seracka serves on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, and currently chairs the Food Bank’s Development Committee and co-chairs the Strategy Task Force.

“Tara is a Santa Clara University alumna who initially joined our Internet Ethics council and has a keen interest in ethics. Her role at Cisco will be very helpful in helping to guide the work the Ethics Center does moving forward,” said Ethics Center Executive Director Don Heider.

Heider and the rest of the Ethics Center staff are thrilled to welcome Seracka to the advisory board and to have her insights and guidance as an experienced trusted advisor and strategic legal partner.

Grace Woidat ‘25, communications and French studies major and marketing and communications intern at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, contributed to this story.
