Update from Sociology Club – Fall 2024

Sociology Club Updates!

This year, the Sociology Club is thrilled to welcome two new board members: Meg Jones, our Finance Chair, and Stephanie Molina, our Communications Chair. Their enthusiasm and fresh ideas have already made a significant impact, and we’re excited to see all they will contribute in the coming year.

Being part of the SCU Sociology Club isn’t just about learning about sociological theories—it’s about having fun, building friendships, and creating lasting memories with a group of people who are just as passionate about understanding the world as you are.

This fall, we’ve worked hard to foster a welcoming and lively community through a series of biweekly events. We kicked off the quarter with a Pizza Night and Sociological Screening, featuring episodes of Love, Death, and Robots. Together, we sparked lively conversations about humanity, technology, consumerism, and more—all while enjoying great pizza and laughs with both new and familiar faces.

Next, we hosted a Sociology Picnic where majors, minors, and even students from other disciplines gathered to share their favorite research projects, reflect on their campus experiences, and explore various sociological topics—all while enjoying games of cornhole and indulging in Trader Joe’s treats. Finally, our Sociology Trivia Night tested everyone’s knowledge of sociology and the SCU Sociology Department, bringing out everyone's competitive spirit in a fun and engaging way.

Look out for our winter quarter lineup, which will include career-focused events and more opportunities to connect, learn, and have a great time. We can’t wait to see you there!
