Laura Nichols was featured in Inside Higher Ed about her new book The Journey Before Us: First-Generation Pathways From Middle School to College which discusses the challenges first generation students face.

Laura Nichols was published this January by Rutgers University Press. The book includes a summary of the findings of interview and administrative data on the educational trajectories of aspiring first-generation college students from one middle school through many high schools and colleges. The role of supports, resources, challenges, as well as suggestions for improvement of our education systems are included in the findings.
