Student Spotlight: Kellan Weinberger
Kellan Weinberger is 2020 SCU graduate who majored in Sociology and minored in Creative Writing.
"Through my time at Santa Clara, I developed close relationships with many of my professors. These relationships allowed me awesome experiences such as working on issues of immigration and social entrepreneurship as a research assistant with Dr. Enrique Pumar, the Sociology Chair. Both in and out of the classroom, the professors within the Sociology department were dedicated to helping me not only with school projects, but also personal development and career opportunities. Through the duality of my major and minor, I gained experience in research-based professional writing as well as creative and informal writing. Moving forward, I plan on using this duality in all possible future careers to chase my passion: perfecting the balance of formal research writing and informal creative writing. In the near future, I will be using these skills in professional marketing at a car dealership group in Illinois, Continental Motors, while also attempting to become a published author as well. I truly enjoyed my time with the SCU Sociology department, and I genuinely believe they bestowed upon me skills that extend far beyond the classroom and into the nitty-gritty of real-life; finding and chasing your true passion."
