Dear Sociology Community, Alumni, and Friends,
As we wrap up the fall quarter and move to planning for the start of Winter quarter 2025, we are grateful once again for all of your support. As you will see from the accompanying stories, your support has provided many opportunities for our students and for our faculty to work with even more students than before. Whether students are working as interviewers or coders for Dr. Hunter, to students who are supported in attending conferences as well as opportunities to gain valuable internships and experiences, and exciting visiting scholars through the Witold Krassowski Visiting Scholars Program, none of this would be possible without your generosity.
We are also grateful for all of our alumni who have served as mentors for our current students, whether informally through a LinkedIn reach-out or more formally through a new program being organized by SCU’s Career Center (more about that in the next newsletter).
This and next year we are working on a program review of our department. As we consider what is working well and where we need to change (using quantitative and qualitative data of course! :), we would love to get feedback from you about what worked and what you wish you would have had as well as things you think are important for current graduates to have as they move out into the world and workforce. Please feel free to share whatever you wish using this form. THANK YOU!
Finally, we are reigniting our department’s LinkedIn page. Please be on the lookout for an invitation to join! We hope to post more frequently there and keep you updated on the aspirations of our students and let our students see more often the amazing work of you, our alum.
Sincerely, Your Sociology Department at SCU
