Dr. Choi graduated with her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Biola University. She has previously trained at three other college counseling centers (Saddleback College, Fuller Psychological & Family Services, and Biola University). She received her B.A. in psychology from California State University, Long Beach. Dr. Choi has worked with students who struggled with anxiety, depression, trauma, academic challenges, transitional and relational issues. Dr. Choi primarily utilizes a brief psychodynamic approach but integrates other therapeutic techniques like mindfulness and self-compassion. Her clinical interests include multicultural and acculturation issues, trauma, identity formation, and mood disorders. She strives to provide treatment that is culturally sensitive and empirically supported. Dr. Choi’s doctoral dissertation explores how self-compassion and shame may have an impact on college students’ perceived academic achievement and their mental health. She is also fluent in Korean.
