Lecturer in Mechanics I: Statics

- Quarterly Part-Time Lecturer


Purpose:

Hire a qualified individual to teach one section of the Department of Civil Engineering Mechanics I: Statics (CENG 41) course.

Qualifications

Earned M.S. in civil or mechanical engineering. Preferred: experience applying statics in engineering practice or teaching statics.

Rank and Salary

Term lecturer (quarterly part-time); $5,840

Starting Date

January 4, 2010

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Teaching one 4-unit undergraduate course in engineering statics, including
    1. Preparing for and conducting all assigned class meetings;
    2. Assigning and evaluating student work appropriately;
    3. Being available to students for consultation in person or by electronic mail;
    4. Submitting electronic copies of the syllabus and examinations to the Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering;
    5. Obtaining and providing samples of student work needed to satisfy ABET requirements;
    6. Administering required course evaluations;
    7. Assigning student grades appropriately and submitting them to the Office of Student Records by the designated deadline; and
    8. Complying with university and school policies, including those delineated in the School of Engineering Term Faculty Handbook.
  2. Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering.
