Ways to Get Involved
There are many ways to give back to Santa Clara, including your time. The Alumni Association fosters opportunities for you to become a leader in your local community, connect with alumni who share your identity, industry, or location, help drive outreach to your alumni network, or volunteer to make your home a better place through the Alumni For Others (AFO) program.

St. Ignatius called us to “go forth and set the world on fire.” As graduates of a Jesuit Catholic university, we share a commitment to be Broncos for others. Learn how you can answer the call.

Santa Clara University's Catala Club welcomes women of all ages who believe in a Santa Clara University and have a desire to raise scholarship funds for deserving undergraduate students. As well as fundraising, Catala women foster SCU spirit throughout our community with our event and activities.

Becoming a member is easy—just click the link below. Once we receive your application, you will begin receiving our monthly newsletters and event information. An interest in and appreciation of Santa Clara University is all that's required to become a member. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Day of Giving is a 24-hour fundraising event that supports almost every corner of the student experience at Santa Clara University. It is a day where Broncos from around the world come together in a stampede of generosity and care for one another, for our communities, and for our world.

Ambassadors play a huge role in the success of Day of Giving by sharing their passion for SCU through social media posts, calling or emailing SCU connections, and by sharing content before and during the event.

Day of Giving will be on April 10, 2024. If you would like to sponsor a challenge for the area of campus closest to your heart or become a Day of Giving Ambassador, please reach out to Sergio Lopez at smlopez@scu.edu

Reunion giving supports current students in a number of different areas including the Santa Clara Fund, which provides assistance through scholarships; academic programs, such as research and hands-on learning opportunities; international study abroad and immersion trips; and student initiatives for on-campus organizations to develop new programs. Gifts to any fund or campus program count toward your class campaign.

If your class is celebrating a reunion this year, it is likely that you'll hear from a classmate about the class campaign. Many of your classmates will be making calls, encouraging others to come back to Santa Clara and to consider making a gift in honor of the reunion as well. We encourage you to participate in your class's reunion campaign with a gift to Santa Clara!

Your gift makes it possible for current students to have the same experiences you did as an undergraduate! If you have questions about your class progress or wish to join your class committee, please reach out to Matthew Bright at mbright2@scu.edu or Elina Barahona '17 at ebarahona@scu.edu.

Parent & Family Leadership Council

The Parent & Family Leadership Council is a philanthropic society of parents, grandparents, and other family members of Santa Clara students who serve as volunteers and ambassadors to the University.

The Council supports the University in three specific ways:

  • Connecting and networking with Santa Clara families through hosting and attending events while helping identify parent volunteers and donors
  • Engaging with University leadership on key issues that affect Santa Clara families and students
  • Inspiring a culture of philanthropy among students and parents

Council members:

  • Invest in the University through an annual 5-figure leadership gift
  • Attend at least one of two annual Council meetings during Welcome and Family Weekends
  • Serve a renewable two-year term

Why does Santa Clara need parent support?

Many parents are surprised to hear that tuition, though substantial, only covers 75% of the cost to educate a Santa Clara student. The University relies on income generated from its endowment and contributions from parents, alumni, and friends to make up the difference.

Each year parents donate between $9M-$23M annually to support the University. Participation by every parent is important and gifts of all levels are appreciated.

How have gifts to the Santa Clara Parents Fund made an impact?

The Santa Clara Parents Fund is the primary giving vehicle enabling parents to support their student's education at SCU. Gifts to The Santa Clara Parents Fund provide critical flexible funding which is invested in undergraduate programs and resources with the greatest need and potential to impact students:

  • Academic programs
  • Service learning, global engagement, and immersion experiences
  • Student initiatives
  • Scholarships

For more information on Parent Giving or the Parent & Family Leadership Council, please email parentgiving@scu.edu or call (408) 551-6093.

The Student Philanthropy Committee is a group of student volunteers who share the importance of philanthropy at Santa Clara with their classmates. Throughout the academic year, the Committee holds activities around campus, partners with clubs and organizations, and creates content to demonstrate the impact of alumni and student support on campus.

One way students choose to leave their mark at SCU, give back, and show their love and commitment to the community, is through Senior Gift. Each year, the graduating class comes together to celebrate their time at Santa Clara, and to raise funds and awareness for areas of SCU that directly impacted their undergraduate experience.

Your gift is tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. SCU's tax ID is 94-1156617. If you have questions, please contact the Development Office at 408-554-2100 or via email at giftsandrecords@scu.edu.
