On October 23rd, the Food and Agribusiness Institute celebrated the Northern California brewing community with a Business of Beer seminar, which included a panel, dinner, and beer tasting.  The evening began with a dynamic conversation led by Ken Weaver, the Beer Editor of All About Beer, among panelists Rob Lindenbush of Lagunitas, Blaine Landberg of Calicraft, and Emily Thomas from Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing. The discussion ranged from beer styles and business tactics, before giving the audience an opportunity to ask questions from the crowd. Their perspectives of different aspects of the brewing industry and the future of beer making in Northern California sparked interesting conversations as the evening transitioned to beer sampling under the twinkle lights.  The attendees sipped their way through samples from a wide variety of local breweries including Calicraft, Lagunitas, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, Hermitage, 21st Amendment, Strike, 8 Bridges and Dust Bowl.  As the night carried on, brew masters and participants were able to bond over their favorite beers.  Autumn in the Bay Area is truly a special time, and nothing says fall like the crisp evening of beer and good conversation that was enjoyed during this event in the Mission Gardens of Santa Clara University.
