Santa Clara University's 2nd Native American Symposium: Reconciliation

The de Saisset Museum is honored to be a partner in the development and presentation of the 2024 Native American Symposium created in collaboration with the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe of the San Francisco Bay Area. Focused on the the theme of reconciliation, the day's presentations and panel conversations will look at reconciliation broadly, as well as through political and theological frameworks.

Speakers include Charlene Nijmeh, Chairwoman of the Muwekma Tribe; Professor Elizabeth Hidalgo Reese, Stanford Law; as well as SCU Administrators, Faculty, Staff and Students from multiple departments.

Guests are welcome to come and go throughout the day as works for their schedule.

Registration

  • SCU students, faculty, and staff: You will be asked to show your university ID to enter the Symposium.
  • If you are not a current SCU student, faculty, or staff member, we ask that you register in order to receive your ticket to show at the door.

 

Santa Clara University's 4th Annual PowWow

Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 10 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. SCU's Ignatian Lawn

Free and open to all

In addition to the complete PowWow schedule, members of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe will be present in the de Saisset Museum to offer tours of our current exhibitions: Reclamation: Resilience of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, Reclamation: Aboriginal Ancestral Homeland of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, and the Ohlone Cultural Campout installation.

Tours will meet in the foyer of the de Saisset Museum and last about 45min inclusive of time for questions and individual exploration of the exhibitions.
