New Student Move-In & Welcome Weekend 2024

Please note the following dates for moving to campus in September, for Welcome Weekend, and for the first day of fall classes.

September 20: Residence hall move-in and social activities

September 21-22: Welcome Weekend

September 23: First day of fall classes

  • Parents and families are encouraged but not required to attend New Student Move-In and/or Welcome Weekend.
  • We are mindful that not all families have the resources or time to travel with their students.
  • Residence Hall Move-In on September 20 begins at 8:30am with the first of 3 groups, the second group begins at 10:00am, and the third group begins at 11:30am.
  • The Farewell Family Reception on September 22 ends at 1:00pm which is when required sessions for new students begin.

A full detailed schedule of events will be available starting in July.

Residence Hall Room & Move-In Assignments

You will learn your Residential Learning Community (RLC) placement in late July as well as specific room assignment and move-in information in early August.

  • The specific move-in time for each student will be sent in a separate email along with other move-in information.
  • Various resources are available on our SCU Housing website which we hope students and families will find helpful as they prepare to make their way to campus.

Meals

Meals are defined as breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner.

  • Students may use their SCU dining plan to pay for their meals.
  • For non-students (families), the various dining areas on campus will charge for whatever individuals purchase for food and drink.
  • However, several events on the schedule are receptions and socials where food and drink is served free of charge.

  • Students seeking medical treatment can visit the Cowell Center, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Driving & Parking

During the move-in process, please pay attention to all road signs and personnel directing traffic especially since some streets may be closed or have limited access.

Although parking permits are not needed for families, it is highly recommended to park in either the Main Parking Structure in the middle of campus or in the North Campus Parking Structure on the northern end of campus.

Family Weekend

Family Weekend will be February 21-22, 2025.

  • More details will be provided on our Family Weekend website and sent via email to students and parents starting in November.
  • Online registration will open by mid-December.
