Good afternoon,
It is with pride and gratitude that I share that the Princeton Review ranked Santa Clara University’s Career Center among the top 20 best career offices of all U.S. private colleges or universities.
The rapidly changing world of work requires professionals to be knowledgeable, adaptable, creative, resourceful, and resilient. These are the same qualities embodied and modeled by Rose Nakamoto and the relentlessly hard-working Career Center team: Shellie Barber, Jennifer Ferrari, Priscilla Grille, Chris Harris, Noël Kreidler, Kristina Kwan, Melissa Thiriez, Vania Tong, and Priscilla Vallejo.
In the months of January - April 2021 alone, the Career Center engaged more than 1200 students in nine virtual recruitment events and forums featuring 110 employers from 30+ industries hiring for hundreds of internships and full-time opportunities. Through Handshake, SCU's job-recruitment and smart career platform, more than 7,700 full-time jobs and 3,400 internships as well as 135 employer-hosted recruiting events were offered in the winter term. LinkedIn Live events on the Covid-19 internship search featuring alums, recruiters, and current students; a diversity-focused summit; and industry themed meet-ups with employers were among numerous additional virtual programs made available to thousands of students coming through the Career Center.
The Career Center team cares deeply about the alignment between an individual’s passion, talent and commitment to making a difference in the world. That care forms the basis for questions asked simply, yet deliberately in Career Centers in many Jesuit universities; What brings me joy? What am I good at? Where do my talents meet the needs of the world?
In these challenging times, the Career Center team, partnering with faculty and staff across campus, has elevated and engaged the voices and perspectives of all students in the world of work and creatively and systematically implemented a new vision for career education across the country. The Princeton Review ranking is a validation that, whether in person or virtually, the team consistently provides top-caliber resources and support for the career development and success of our students.
Congratulations for this well-deserved recognition.
