Greetings all.
We wanted to provide a brief update about the Sustaining Excellence Project and remind you to offer your suggestions via the "Submit an Idea" link on the project web site: http://scu.edu/sustaining-excellence.
The 7 working groups have been hard at work generating and considering about 50 ideas thus far to generate income, cut costs, and improve efficiencies. They will complete their work in mid-April and hand their ideas off to our steering committee for consideration. We want as many great brainstorming ideas as we can get and everyone is welcome to participate.
Fr. Engh discussed the project during his state-of-the-university address recently and stated the following:
Perhaps last September I did not emphasize adequately the need for blue-sky dreaming. Let me now strongly encourage all of us to open our minds – and our hearts – to dialogue with one another, to trust one another with ideas that may at first sound out-of-the box. Let me underline that this project should be positive, collegial, friendly, and open about SCU in the future. Our intention is to suggest new possibilities, coming from a place of curiosity rather than judgement.
Let us be very clear. To be the best that SCU can be and to get the most out of this important project we really want everyone to feel comfortable and welcomed to participate and offer your thoughtful ideas if you have any to share. It is a unique opportunity for us to potentially help shape the future of the university for many years to come.
Check out our website and let us know if questions arise.
Many thanks everyone and we’ll continue to update you about the progress of the project being careful and respectful not to overwhelm your inbox.
Best wishes, Tom & Lisa
