Dear Santa Clara University Community,
Welcome to the first edition of the Prepared SCU Weekly Roundup. Our goal is to share a short digest every Friday with key information related to SCU’s response to COVID-19.
Vaccination Rates
98% of our students (undergraduate and graduate) have submitted proof of vaccination, as well as 97% of staff and faculty. Track our progress on our COVID-19 Dashboard.
Entry Testing
COVID-19 testing is an important part of how we’ll keep our community safe this year. Thank you to all our students for continuing with entry testing. All undergraduate and graduate students, including off-campus residents, must complete their final entry test at the beginning of Week 2. Students in residence halls are required to continue testing weekly throughout the quarter. Review our Testing Protocol webpage for more information.
Testing Results
After the initial backlog, our testing service provider, Color, is now providing the 24-36 hour turnaround time that we expect. Positivity rates remain very low on campus at 0.1%. Our COVID-19 Dashboard is updated weekly.
The Proper Way to Test
It’s important to properly self-administer your COVID-19 test to ensure conclusive results. Rotate the swab four full times in each nostril and place the swab in the tube carefully, cotton side down. Kits can be dropped off in many different locations, including Benson Memorial Center and residence halls.
Dining Services
This past week, dining services in Benson Memorial Center faced challenges with long lines and product shortages. To support student dining needs, students will receive a credit in their Flex account for this week and next, that can be used at 12 off-campus dining locations (within walking distance).
Stay safe and well,
SCU COVID-19 Operations Team
