Current Santa Clara University students and Jesuit School of Theology students, when they are registered for classes, are provided access free of charge to the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center, Sullivan Aquatic Center, Bellomy Field, Degheri Tennis Center and outdoor facilities with valid ACCESS credential (card or mobile).
All students must agree to the facility waiver via Workday annually as of July 1, as they become new students or turn 18 (see below Incoming/current students under 18 years old).
During the summer session, students registered for summer courses are provided access only during the Summer Session in which they are enrolled in. Continuing students not registered for summer school, or students not enrolled in the current Summer Session, must purchase a summer membership to gain access to the Malley Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center. See Summer Membership section below for more information.

Incoming/current students under 18 years old
Incoming students who will arrive on campus under 18 years of age must have completed a waiver via Workday with their parent's or legal guardian's signature.
If a student who had submitted a paper waiver turns 18 before or after arriving on campus, they will have to agree to the waiver again online via Workday on or after their 18th birthday.

Winter Quarter Graduate Membership
Winter quarter graduates are eligible for a prorated Alumni Membership for two and a half months until graduation. These students are not current students, and their ACCESS cards will be turned off for spring quarter access. A winter graduate membership is non-refundable.
All Winter Quarter graduates may purchase an Alumni Membership at a prorated amount beginning on April 2, 2024. The fee is $80 compared to the normal quarterly fee of $150. On May 6, 2024, the fee becomes $40 for the rest of the Spring Quarter. Students working for their last quarter as student employees must still purchase a membership to have access. All memberships will expire on June 13, 2024.
Spouses of students will NOT have access free of charge if their spouse is not registered for classes.

Summer Memberships for Continuing Students not enrolled in Summer Session
SCU students who are enrolled in summer classes will have uninterrupted access to the Malley Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center during the Summer Session when they are enrolled in classes.
During the summer session, continuing students not registered for summer classes must purchase a summer membership to gain access. Please see the How to Register for Your Membership section for more detail.
A Summer Continuing Student membership is refundable. Please see the Refund section for more detail.
Law students not enrolled in summer classes, regular access will stop on May 15; UGRAD and GRAD on June 13. Young Scholars
We are excited to have you on campus with us during your time while in classes if you would like to use the recreation facilities you need to be active in our database. To be active we need to have received a completed waiver five business days before you would like to begin using the facilities. Faculty and Staff* are provided access, currently free of charge, to the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center & Sullivan Aquatic Center and all outdoor facilities, including: the Degheri Tennis Courts, Bellomy Field & Track, Beach Volleyball, Outdoor Basketball and Outdoor Fitness Area. With a valid ACCESS credential (card or mobile) you will have access to the above noted facilities except the Degheri Tennis Center and your card will scan at Bellomy Field.
If you are new to campus or have not stopped visited the Malley Center in a while you might need to have a liability waiver signed. As of August 7, 2023 faculty and staff will have to sign the Release of Liability and Assumption of Risks for Use of Athletics & Campus Recreation Facilities and Programs in Workday.

Any individual who has completed one year of undergraduate study towards a matriculating degree at the University qualifies as an alumn(us/a), even if he/she/they did not receive a degree from SCU. Graduate students must receive a degree from SCU in order to attain alumni status for membership. Completion of a certification program with SCU does not grant alumni status for membership.

Minor Children
Minor children (under 18 years of age) of current students, faculty, staff, and alumni members may enter the facilities free of charge. A Minor Registration Form must be completed by the parent or legal guardian annually. The parent or legal guardian must accompany their minor under the age of 18 at all times within recreation facilities. Minor children under the age of 16 are not permitted to use the Malley Center Weight Room.
Summer College Membership for Dependents of Current Students, Faculty, and Staff
For college students (from other universities) who are children/dependents of current Students, Faculty, or Staff.
- Cost of membership: $150
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must provide proof of enrollment in a college (tuition bill for the most recent period, admittance letter for the upcoming fall for incoming freshman, or transcript)
- Membership is available May 1 - September 30
- Must come in with their parent when signing up for membership, and their parent must be a current member
Eligible Retirees from Santa Clara University interested in obtaining access to the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center first need to obtain their Retiree Card from the ACCESS Card office.
Bring that Retiree Card with you to the Front Desk of the Malley Center to obtain a Malley Center Membership Card. The Malley Center Membership Card needs to be renewed annually along with a new liability waiver submitted.
Spouses of Retirees may obtain a Malley Center Membership Card, currently free of charge, by signing up with their spouse at the Malley Center Front Desk during business hours.

Beginning Summer 2024, Santa Clara University Campus Recreation will be offering a summer membership for local community members. The membership is 12 weeks long, Monday, June 17, 2024 - Sunday, September 8, 2024*, and costs $200. The membership prorates on July 29, 2024 to $100 for the remainder of the membership period.
Summer Community Members with an active Malley Center Membership are provided access to the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center and Sullivan Aquatics Center only. There is no access to any of the Campus Recreation outdoor facilities for community members. You will need to register for your membership by going to the Malley Center Front Desk to sign a liability waiver, create your account, and complete payment. *The Malley Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center will be closed June 19, July 4, and September 2.
Court Impact over the summer (during the weeks of June 17, June 24, July 8, July 15, July 22, and July 29):
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: all three courts closed 9 a.m. - noon and 1 - 4 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday: Courts 2 and 3 closed 9 a.m. - noon and all three courts closed 1 - 4 p.m.

Bar Review (SCU and non-SCU)
The Bar Review Membership is for those on campus in late May - July (when the bar exam is held) who are non-SCU or returning alumni of SCU. The membership is $150 ($100 for SCU Law Students who graduated in May 2024 and want access only through the bar exam) for access to the Malley Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center for those two and a half months of study. Students in the review session can show their receipt or badge to get their membership. This class does not make them an alumnus of SCU.
Bar Review members with an active Malley Center Membership are provided access to the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center only. No members of this type have access to other Campus Recreation outdoor facilities.

Contractors for Barnes & Noble and Bon Appetit
Employees from Barnes & Noble and Bon Appetit are eligible to purchase a Monthly Contractor Membership. The membership rate is $45 for access to the Malley Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center. These memberships must be renewed each month. We are sorry but these memberships are not eligible to register their spouses or their minor children for Malley Center access. These memberships allow for Guest access if offered, please visit our Guest Passes section for more information.
Contractor members with an active Malley Center Membership are provided access to the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center only.

Department Sponsored Memberships
Departments are able to sponsor an individual who is working for their area but who is not covered in the above membership categories. This would include but is not limited to visiting professors or temporary staff. The sponsoring department will have to complete and submit the Malley Center Membership Card Sponsored Member Form (Department Sponsored Membership Request Form) using their scu.edu e-mail address for approval.
The completed form can be emailed to campusrec@scu.edu and cc: kfrumkin@scu.edu OR returned to the Malley Center Front Desk Staff attention Kelly Frumkin, Assistant Director for Membership and Operations.
Departments will note the length of time they are sponsoring the individual, the name of the Sponsored Member, and whether their department or the individual will be covering the $55 per month fee during their visit. A Malley Center Membership Card will be given for the duration of their visit.
After the form is submitted, the sponsoring department's contact will receive an email when the form has been approved, and inform the sponsored member when they can stop by the Malley Center Front Desk to complete the registration process for their Malley Center Membership Card.
Please allow for up to 5 business days upon the form being submitted for you to receive the confirmation e-mail. Please note if the individual is paying for their membership, they will be required to pay for the entire duration of their visit at their initial set up of their membership or a request will need to be made each month if they do not want to pay for the additional months upfront. All department payments will be for the duration of their membership.
Department-sponsored memberships are not eligible to register their spouses or their minor children for Malley Center access. However, these memberships are able to sponsor guests, please visit our Guest Passes section for more information.
Department-sponsored members with an active Malley Center Membership are provided access to the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center and Sullivan Aquatic Center only.
The general community is not eligible for memberships (Summer Community Memberships will be offered during the summer of 2024 on a trial basis).
Additional Information
Visit the Malley Center Front Desk during business hours. You will need to complete a Membership Agreement Form & Liability Waiver, which is available at the Front Desk. This paperwork is not currently online, but is still required for all memberships & membership renewals. Spouses wishing to register or renew must be with the affiliated Faculty, Staff or Student member during their registration process.
We accept cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard for payment of your membership. The process to complete the paperwork, take your photo and print your membership card will take about ten minutes. Please plan accordingly.
Lost or stolen Malley Center Membership cards can be replaced for a nominal fee. Please visit the Malley Center Front Desk to purchase a replacement.
Access to the recreation facilities without your membership card is permitted once per quarter with another form of valid, government issued photo ID. For more information, see Malley Center Policies.
All members are allowed to sponsor a guest(s) at any time for the nominal guest fee. All guests must be 18 years or older at the time of their visit. Guest Pass holders are not eligible to bring in their children/minors.
We will be offering 1, 2, and 10-day guest passes. All guests must be 18 years of age or older. The guest pass daily rate is $10.
For your guest(s) that have our old guest passes they will need to turn those in & sign a new waiver and they will be given new passes for their remaining visits.
All guests must be with their sponsoring member at the time of purchasing their guest passes, and again will have to show their age at each time of purchase.

Parking Permits are not included in the alumni memberships, visiting professors or the spouse memberships. All Malley Center Membership card holders will need to purchase a Parking Permit or Day Pass through Transportation Services (408-551-7092) or park off campus and walk into campus to use our facilities.
Most Malley Center Memberships are refundable. The 10 Visit Membership Pass is non-refundable. To request a refund, complete the Refund Request Form and submit it to campusrec@scu.edu or to the Malley Center Front Desk for processing. Please be sure to include the member's name, mailing address, contact phone number & reason for cancellation.
Memberships will be prorated based on the amount paid per month, and the number of months left in their membership term, minus a $15 membership card fee. Your membership card will be canceled the date we receive the refund request. All refund checks will be mailed to the address provided on the form within four to six weeks.
