SCU WCVB
Linda Chen and Catherine McCoy, looking to find an outlet for young women balancing a rigorous academic collegiate life with a desire to play highly competitive volleyball, founded Santa Clara University's Women's Club Volleyball team in 2005. After many years of struggling to form the team, they were able to successfully convince members of Santa Clara's athletic community that a team was needed despite the presence of the NCAA volleyball team.
Currently, the SCU Women's Club Volleyball team competes in the Northern Californian Collegiate Volleyball League, in which they were named champions for three consecutive seasons (2007-2010) and placed second in the 2022-2023 season. They are also members of USA Volleyball and compete within the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation, which hosts the National Championship Tournament, at which the team tied for 5th in Division I during the 2017-2018 season and 3rd in Division I during the 2021-2022 season.
Prospective players attending Santa Clara University should attend open gyms, held from late September through early October. Practices are held following tryouts through Winter Break, and the season begins in January and runs through early April, culminating with the National Championship Tournament.
The SCU Women's Club Volleyball team is partially funded by the school, and the rest comes from member dues, donations, and fundraising. If you would like to help support our team financially, please see our Giving page.
Thank you for your interest in our team!
