Hello Broncos! We're back again, and we hope that you're having a wonderful November. In case you forgot, we have 22 competitive club sports teams at SCU that compete locally, regionally, and nationally against other universities. Each month during the academic year, we ask them to report what they have been up to, and those that submit information will be sent out in this monthly e-mail. Not every Club Sport will report each month.
OPEN CLUB SPORTS
CLUB GOLF
This fall, the club golf team officially joined Santa Clara as an on-campus club. Our fall season wrapped up a few weeks ago, during which we participated in three tournaments. We are excited to announce that we emerged victorious in each tournament and had outstanding individual medalist performances in each one. We were thrilled to welcome our largest member class this fall and are very excited to host some tournaments of our own in the spring. We hope to continue our winning streak in the next set of tournaments. Additionally, we were recently ranked 15th in the nation of collegiate club golf teams, and hope to compete in nationals at the end of a strong spring season.
SAILING
Come join SCU sailing to try out a new sport or have a fun day on the San Francisco Bay! We are open to all students, regardless of skill level, and would be stoked to have you join our team. This fall has been filled with great practices in sunny weather and great breeze that has us cruising around the bay. We're always open to new members, regardless of your martial arts or fitness experience, and we don't hold any tryouts. Just recently, we wrapped up our highly successful free Self-Defense Workshop, held in partnership with Campus Safety, ASG, and DISC. The turnout was fantastic! We're now gearing up for our first tournament of the school year, taking place next week, where both brand-new and returning members will be competing. TRIATHLON
The Santa Clara Triathlon Club had a hot start to our season. We had an impressive showing at the UC Davis Aggieathlon and the UC Berkeley Bearathlon. There were standout performances by Arnav Choudhury ‘24 for finishing second in the Bearathlon Draft Legal Race and Berkeley Burbank ‘26 for finishing 21st in the Bearathlon Classic Race. We also had the fastest relay team at the Bearathlon Relay Race led by technical officer Eugene Lim ‘25. We are super proud of all the improvements our club has made since the start of the quarter. If you are interested in joining, email our fearless leader, Mckenzie Cooke(mcooke@scu.edu).
WOMEN’S TEAM SPORTS
WOMEN’S CLUB SOCCER
Women’s Club Soccer has started off our first season very strong! Our first two games were against the University of San Francisco and San Jose State University. We displayed a great deal of hard-work, skill, and teamwork, leading to both games resulting in big 8-0 wins! This past weekend, our team traveled all the way to Reno, to play University of Nevada. After a hard-fought and closely matched game, it resulted in a 2-1 loss, however, we will take away important lessons and lots of great team bonding from this trip. We are continuing to have so much fun as a team and training hard in preparation for our next game on Saturday, December 2nd against CSU Chico at 3pm on Stanton Field! We greatly appreciate any and all support! Remember to follow us on Instagram @scu.womensclubsoccer for updates and photos from our games!

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Women’s Lacrosse has had quite the fall quarter as we have started our preseason with our new team. We have had many new additions to our team who will have an instant impact for us on the field. Most recently, we had our first scrimmage at UC Davis. Although we did not come up on top, it was a hard-fought game, and we showed some great things for the season ahead. This fall ball season is wrapping up after plenty of great practices and team bonding! We will be fully prepared for the start of the season come winter quarter with a challenging schedule ahead of us. We kick off our first league game at the end of January. We are so excited about what this lax season will bring us.
WOMEN’S ULTIMATE
This fall quarter has been full of exciting practices, challenging tournaments, and a whole lot of fun! Our team attended two tournaments this fall. The first was hosted at Chico where we started the tournament with 3 losses against some tough competition, however we showed our reliance and spirit and came back stronger and stronger, decreasing the gap in score for each game. By our 4th game of the day, we came out with an exciting win against one of UC Berkeley’s teams! We proceeded into the next day of the tournament with the same determination along with more experience under our belt. We started off the morning with a BANG and beat the second UC Berkeley team. Our second game was a hard fought game in the rain against great competition - Reno. We lost by 1 in the end, but gained incredible lessons and pushed ourselves to grow. Our second tournament was hosted by Stanford. We had some new players come along to this tournament that didn't attend the first, so the first two games we focused on becoming more comfortable playing the game in general and with each other. We lost by quite a bit in those first two games against Stanford, but by the third game we found our groove and had a very close game against UC Berkeley resulting in a 7-10 loss. Overall, between the two tournaments, we showed a great upwards projection in our skill and teamwork. We have another tournament coming up this fall quarter, the Sean Ryan tournament, hosted by Santa Cruz on December 2nd and 3rd. In our recent practices we have been working to increase our speed of play and fluidity of progressing the disk up the field. During the Sean Ryan tournament we hope to demonstrate all of our hard work we've put into our practices and seamlessly work together to achieve our goals.
MEN’S TEAM SPORTS
MEN'S CLUB SOCCER
Our Men's Club Soccer team is thrilled to share our journey as a new program on campus. The season kicked off with an exciting series of matches, and we are making our mark in the competitive soccer scene. In our debut game against UC Davis, we faced a challenging first match that ended with a 4-2 scoreline. Despite the loss, our team showcased resilience and determination in the following game against USF where we secured a convincing 8-1 victory. This win not only boosted our morale but also demonstrated the skill and teamwork inherent in our players. The most heart-stopping moment came in our match against Berkeley, where we experienced a narrow 2-1 defeat due to a last-second goal. While the result was not in our favor, it highlighted the intensity and competitiveness our team brings to every game. We had a strong finish against St. Mary's this past Saturday at our first home game on Bellomy Field, and crushed them 12-2! We encourage everyone to come out and cheer for the team at our upcoming home games, which can be found on our Instagram (@santaclaraclubsoccer). Stay tuned for more updates on SCU Men’s Club Soccer. Go Broncos!

MEN'S LACROSSE
Men’s Lacrosse is winding up the Fall Ball portion of their season. This year we have one of the largest rookie classes in years. We look forward to taking the momentum from Fall into Spring and really hitting the ground running. Our first game is in February, and we are hoping to see you all at a home game this season!
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
This fall, the Men’s Volleyball team has been practicing since early October with many new and old faces on the court. We’ve been competing hard in practices and just finished our first pre-season tournament, the Colberg Classic at UC Davis. Our Santa Clara team started off the day undefeated in pool play (3-0) with so many positive contributions from each player on the team. Our record was enough to rank us 3rd out of 20 teams going into the playoffs, where we faced a familiar NCCVL foe in the Stanford Men’s Club Volleyball team. The quarterfinal match began with a thrilling first set, back and forth, point for point, until Stanford bested the SCU squad in a 32-34 Set 1. Unfortunately, our team competed as best we could but fell short in the second set to end our run at the tournament. Overall, we are extremely proud and excited about our squad and will look forward to our season, which starts in late January!
