Hello Broncos! We hope your week 10 is going well. We have 22 competitive Club Sport teams at SCU that compete locally, regionally, and nationally against other universities. Each month during the academic year, we ask them to report what they have been up to, and those that submit information will be sent out in this monthly e-mail. Not every Club Sport will report each month.
OPEN CLUB SPORTS
SWIM TEAM
This is what we’ve been training for!!! We are less than 1 month away from College Club Swimming Nationals 2024, and our swimmers are excited to put their best into the water. On April 5-7, our qualified swimmers will be heading to Indiana to compete against other collegiate swimming clubs across the country. With Nationals coming soon and spring weather on the horizon, now is the perfect time to join our community. Whether you are looking for a competitive team to train with, or simply want to support our swimmers and hop in for some aquatic fun, we welcome you reaching out for more information about joining. Feel free to contact Charlie Horey at chorey@scu.edu.
MEN’S TEAM SPORTS
MEN’S CLUB SOCCER
Men’s Club Soccer is having an amazing season this year. Despite losing two games early on in the season, MCSOC is currently on a six game winning streak and sits tied for first in the League with a record of 7-2. On February 24, we achieved a huge 5-0 victory over rival San Jose State University. On March 2, the men grinded out a tough win over University of Santa Cruz, winning 3-1. We are incredibly proud of the success we have achieved thus far, but the work isn’t finished yet. Our sights are set on performing incredibly well in our regional tournament in April but there are two games left to win before we can truly call this season an overwhelming success. This past weekend, on March 9, we faced University of Nevada, Reno at 1 p.m. on Stanton Field. We expected nothing but victory but the competition was close. We ended up clenching the game with a 3-2 victory! We love our Santa Clara students, faculty, and staff that continue to push us to strive for glory. We appreciate all of the support we have received and are looking forward to continuing to compete and win in the name of Santa Clara University!
WOMEN’S TEAM SPORTS
WOMEN'S RUGBY
The BRUWS have been out in full force this season and continue to put in hard work each week despite our defeats this season. Our team continues to improve and learn as the season goes on, and we strive to take steps to keep moving forward! Each week we train three nights a week for two hours per practice. We love seeing new faces and people coming out to try the sport, it’s never too late to join or just see if it’s for you! We’re currently preparing resiliently for our next home game against the University of Santa Cruz on March 16 at 11 a.m. on Bellomy Field! Women’s Rugby appreciates all the support we receive from our alumni, friends, family, students, and faculty! We hope to see you guys come out and support us on our home turf March 16 and go BRUWS!!!
WOMEN'S CLUB SOCCER
As winter quarter comes to an end, Women’s Club Soccer has successfully moved to be tied for first in our League with a record of 5-1-1. We have played in three games this quarter, the first being against UC Berkeley ending at a 4-0 W, then a close match against SJSU ended with a score of 2-1 W, our third and final game of the quarter at Chico State resulted in a 2-2 tie. Although this quarter has come to an end, our season has not! We will continue to play a few more games in spring quarter against UC Berkeley and University of Nevada, Reno. Additionally, we will likely be competing in a our League Playoff Tournament in Irvine. We appreciate all the support that we have received so far and we encourage you to continue to follow our progress going into next quarter! And as always, remember to follow us on Instagram @scu.womensclubsoccer for updates and photos from our games!
WOMEN'S CLUB VOLLEYBALL
Women’s Club Volleyball has had many busy and fun weekends recently! We are super pumped for how we played at our tournament in SLO and for our victory against Stanford last Saturday. This win secured our spot as a top 4 team in our League, earning us a place at the upcoming League Championships!!
