Hello Broncos! We hope this newsletter finds you well. We have 22 competitive club sports teams at SCU that compete locally, regionally, and nationally against other universities. Each month during the academic year, we ask them to report what they have been up to, and those that submit information will be sent out in this monthly e-mail. Not every Club Sport will report each month.

SWIM TEAM
It has been one heck of a quarter! We’ve been able to swim at three meets, with two of them being right at home. A staggering 12 people have already qualified for Nationals across a plethora of events. Recruitment has been off the charts this year with record-breaking attendance. With the fall quarter ending, our training has been winding down as people prepare to head home and take a well-deserved break. Once we come back for winter, the grind for Nationals will continue. Training will start ramping up as everyone is looking to lock in and get faster. With two of our biggest and most exciting meets coming up in the winter, UCLA and Stanford, I have no doubt in my mind that our Nationals roster will continue to grow. As always, if you have any questions about joining the team, contact chorey@scu.edu for more information.

MEN’S CLUB BASEBALL
The first ever quarter of Men’s Club Baseball has been a huge success! We have a really strong team with a mixture of graduating classes. In our first quarter, we practiced and played in two exhibition series against UC Berkeley and San Jose State to prepare ourselves for the upcoming NCBA conference season. In our recent exhibition series against SJSU, we won both games by scores of 4-3 and 9-2! Our team’s conference schedule games begin on February 3rd and will last through April, with the regional playoffs in Nevada and World Series in Illinois occurring in May. We are excited to continue our team growth, and hopefully compete at the national level. To stay updated on our team, you can follow us on our Instagram (@scuclubbaseball). We appreciate your support!

WOMEN’S CLUB VOLLEYBALL
Women’s Club Volleyball is off to a fantastic start this season! We had a strong showing in our first scrimmage against San Jose State University, winning all five sets at the Malley Center. The competition continued at our all-day tournament in Berkeley on Saturday, where we fought hard in every game. Between pool play and bracket play, we had a total of 6 intense games. We took Chico and the University of Nevada Reno to three sets and beat Fresno in two, giving us a spot in the Silver Bracket. During bracket play, we pulled out a win over SFSU and SJSU to earn us a spot in the championship. Although we narrowly lost 1-2 in the championship to Berkeley, our team fought throughout the entire game. The dedication, resilience, and teamwork displayed by both returning and rookie players are setting the stage for an exciting season ahead, and we look forward to seeing our season progress!
