In April, the Office of the Provost announced new funding to support faculty research and teaching projects advancing Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI). The applications were open to individuals and teams for existing or new projects with options for requests for course releases, summer stipends, and/or research grants.

The Office of the Provost is happy to announce $103,400 of funding for the following projects:

Individuals

Nicholas Serafin (Law)- Born to Equality: Children, Equal Protection, and State Laws Targeting LGBTQ+ Youth

Jesica Fernández (Ethnic Studies)- The Archivist Activist Project: Tracing the Trajectories of Student Activism at SCU

Molly King (Sociology)- Emergency Preparedness for People with Mobility Disabilities during Climate Disaster

Danielle Fuentes Morgan (English)- Scholarly book project: Black Uncanny and the Limits of Laughter

Karla Lomelí (Education)- Leadership through Literacy: Examining the Impact of Trauma during Covid-19 in Adolescents & Immigrant-Origin Youth Informed by a Moral Ethic of Cariño

Sharmila Lodhia (Women’s and Gender Studies)- Rewriting Race: Justice Sonia Sotomayor and the Power of Dissent

Justin Clardy (Philosophy)- Scholarly book project: Love Hates Us: Love, Race, and Non-monogamies in America

Upcoming Funding Opportunities

Please note that University Research Grants, Lecturer Professional Activities Grants, and AYAL Professional Activities Grants will open for applications on September 30, 2022 and close October 31. This funding window is in addition to the traditional funding cycle, which opens in late February and closes in early April.
