Dear colleagues: 

We write to confirm that we are in receipt of a petition from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) to begin a union election process for certain non-tenure-track faculty at Santa Clara University. The longstanding position of the University has been to uphold the right of our adjunct faculty and lecturers to pursue a vote to unionize through the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), given the protections and procedures afforded all parties through the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).

We are grateful this election will be overseen by the NLRB in accordance with the NLRA and will honor the choice our faculty members make. As this process continues, we will do our best to continue to keep you informed.
