Dear Santa Clara Students,
As I begin my service as your president, it is an honor and a privilege to work with all members of the University community to provide you with an exceptional Santa Clara education and experience. The issues facing our world are difficult and complex, calling for future leaders who are grounded in their humanity above all. Those future leaders are YOU.
My hope is that your years at Santa Clara are enriching in mind, body, and spirit, and that you remain inspired to move through our world in service to others, especially to the most vulnerable and marginalized. Bolstered by our Jesuit traditions, I look forward to joining you in ensuring Santa Clara is a community where everyone is welcome and invited to share in this work to make the world a better place.
For those of you who are new to Santa Clara, like me, soon you will experience your first day at the University. This is an exciting time in both of our lives, filled with joy and the promise of what the future holds. For those of you returning to campus, I look forward to becoming part of the Bronco family and getting to know you as well. I know it has been a difficult two years, especially considering the disruptions caused by the pandemic. Your physical and mental health are as important to us as your education, and we look forward to welcoming you back to a community that loves and supports you.
While I met some of you when I was on campus in March, I hope to meet with as many of you as possible throughout the coming year. I am eager to hear about your experiences, thoughts, concerns, and aspirations for Santa Clara. Your opinions matter to me as we prepare for our futures here at the University, together.
So, when we come across each other on campus, please stop to say hello and introduce yourself. You may even see me walking Bella, our friendly labradoodle.
Best wishes for a peaceful and enjoyable summer.
Warm regards,
Julie Sullivan
