Dear Santa Clara University Community,
We have seen an increase in reported COVID-19 positive cases, along with an increase in wastewater concentrations of the virus, over the past 10 days.
Testing is one of the most important tools we have to stop the spread of infections. If you test positive, report your positive test result and observe all isolation protocols and precautions.
Where can I get a test kit?
- Front desk of all residence halls
- Cowell Health Center
- Limited quantities are available from the Test Forms and More vending machine in the Learning Commons. These rapid antigen tests are available to SCU students, staff, and faculty only, during the Learning Commons hours of operations. Please note: an active FLEX account is required in order to use the vending machine.
- If you need more than one or two test kits for a group or department meeting, please email COVID19@scu.edu a few days ahead of time and we will set some tests aside for you to pick up.
- Rapid test kits are also available for purchase at many retail outlets and online. Some health insurance plans provide test kits or permit enrollees to obtain kits from pharmacies at no additional out-of-pocket cost.
Please get tested
- If you are experiencing ANY symptoms, even if you think it is just a cold or allergies,
- After being exposed to someone who has tested positive,
- After traveling or attending large events.
- Important note: rapid antigen tests are most accurate 24 hrs after symptom onset. If you test negative one day, you could test positive the next day. If you were exposed recently or just developed symptoms, it might be too early for a rapid test to pick up the infection.
- More information about when to test can be found on our website.
We will be hosting a drop-in table from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. this Thursday, September 28 and Friday, September 29 in front of the Learning Commons. Please stop by to pick up a rapid antigen test kit, a mask, or to ask any questions.
Thank you for all you do to keep our community safe!
Stay safe and well,
SCU COVID-19 Operations Team
