Dear Santa Clara University Community,
We hope that you had a restful and enjoyable break. As we prepare to return to campus for the winter quarter and spring semester, it is crucial that we all do our part to keep our community healthy and safe. Here, we share information and reminders regarding SCU’s COVID-19 policies for the upcoming term, including testing and masking.
Before Returning to Campus
Take a COVID-19 test before returning to campus. If you test positive, please report your test result and complete your isolation period before coming back to campus.
January Entry Testing
Upon return to campus, all students are expected to test once during Week 1 and once during Week 2. Most students should use Color PCR tests for entry testing. If you have had a positive COVID-19 test in the last 90 days, take a rapid antigen test instead of a PCR test. Please report your rapid antigen test result, whether positive or negative. We will monitor both positive and negative results, and follow up with students who have not completed their entry testing requirements. If you have questions about entry testing, please visit the Prepared SCU website.
COVID-19 Testing Availability
Color PCR testing will be available Monday - Friday. Tests are picked up at 3pm from the following locations:
- Benson Memorial Center, Charney Hall, Guadalupe Hall, Lucas Hall, and SCDI.
- Weeks 1 & 2 only: Campisi, Casa, Dunne, Finn, Graham, McLaughlin-Walsh, Sanfilippo, Sobrato, Swig, and University Villas.
- Tests are available at the front desk of JST and are picked up on Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m.
Rapid antigen tests will be available at the Health Ambassadors table, located outside of the Learning Commons, Monday - Friday 11am - 3pm.
If you would like to request rapid antigen tests for an event, please email covid19@scu.edu.
Masking in Classrooms
As a reminder, masks will be required in classrooms during Week 1 and Week 2. Masking may be extended if the positive case count presents a concern for the health of the SCU community. We encourage you to bring a mask of your own and follow these sustainability tips. KN95 masks will be available at the Health Ambassador's table, Benson Memorial Center, Campus Safety Office, Provost Office, Charney Hall, Lucas Hall, Guadalupe Hall and at the JST front desk. Surgical masks will be available in all classrooms.
