Anna Yang (she/her/hers) joined Santa Clara University in February 2020 as the Science Librarian. She earned her Masters of Library and Information Science degree from San Jose State University in 2014. In her current role at SCU, she provides class instruction, research assistance, collection development, and other library related duties. Anna enjoys gamifying her instruction to increase engagement and meeting students where they are (in-person, over Zoom, or via email). Her other interests lies in instructional assessment, reflective practice, and problem-based learning. She takes on a student-center learning approach and believes in compassionate teaching.
Anna identifies as a first-generation Hmong-American woman. She is the youngest daughter of nine children and aunt to 40+ nieces and nephew (great aunt to 13+). When Anna is not in the library creating new instructional materials or learning more about the latest trends in libraries, she’s busy balancing how to be a WoW gamer and a first-time mom.
