General Information
As part of the Core Curriculum, all students are required to complete the Language Requirement through either the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures or Department of Classics. Here are the options for fulfilling this requirement:
- Placement Process for Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish
- Placement Process for Latin or Ancient Greek
Deadline
The language placement process should ideally be completed by June 29 but at least 3 weeks prior to participating in your in-person Orientation session.
If you do need to enroll in language courses at SCU in order to fulfill the Language Requirement, it is strongly recommended that you complete the required courses during your first or second year at SCU.
Please note that a placement recommendation is required prior to enrolling in your first Modern Languages & Literatures course.
