SCU has 9 living-learning residence halls called Residential Learning Communities or RLCs (name of the residence hall building is in parentheses):
- Alpha RLC (Graham Hall)
- Cura RLC (Finn Hall)
- CyPhi RLC (Swig Hall)
- da Vinci RLC (Casa Italiana Hall)
- Loyola RLC (Sobrato Hall)
- Magis RLC (Campisi Hall)
- Magis RLC (Sanfilippo Hall)
- Modern Perspectives RLC (Dunne Hall)
- Unity RLC (McLaughlin-Walsh Hall)
Located across from the Modern Perspectives RLC (Dunne Hall) at 862 Market Street, the Off-Campus Living Office helps students who live off campus and is a resource for non-SCU residents living in the local neighborhoods.
The Off-Campus Living Office works with students, neighbors, City of Santa Clara, and Santa Clara Police and Fire Departments to make sure that everyone is working in unison to create a healthy and positive living environment for all.
The Center for Student Involvement supports commuter students in a variety of ways such as Orientation, commuter spaces and resources at the Locatelli Student Activity Center, Commuter Student Union (student organization), and web links to resources around campus.
Students often use public transit such local trains (i.e. Caltrain and BART) and buses (i.e. VTA and SamTrans) to travel around the Bay Area of California for a variety of reasons ranging from internships and jobs to entertainment and leisure.
ClipperCard is the all-in-one transit card that students may find useful and economical.
Through the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), there is an airport shuttle (Route #60 Bus) that students can use to get from campus to the San Jose International Airport (SJC) and vice versa. The bus stop for campus is by the Santa Clara Transit Center located across the street from the main entrance (Palm Drive).
SCU offers a car sharing program through ZipCar which is useful for students who may need the use of a car but do not own one or have one with them at college. SCU has a strategic partnership with ZipCar.
Students also use ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft as well as other services such as Wingz. SCU does not endorse any particular service or have any strategic partnerships with any of the services mentioned. It is the responsibility of the student to research which service fits their needs.
