Welcome to the Week 2 edition of the Prepared SCU Weekly Roundup. In this short Friday digest, we share key information related to SCU’s response to COVID-19.

October 7 COVID-19 Clinic: Vaccine and Booster Doses

SCU will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Thursday, October 7 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Williman Room in Benson. Individuals who received their first dose on September 16 can get the second dose at this time. Additionally, anyone who meets FDA/CDC guidelines and received their second Pfizer dose on or before April 7 can receive a booster dose. This includes individuals who are 65+, 18+ with underlying medical conditions, or 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings, including higher education. No appointment necessary; please bring your original vaccination card if seeking a booster.

 

COVID-19 Dashboard Update

>98% of our students (undergraduate and graduate) have been verified as vaccinated, as well as almost 98% of staff and faculty. This past week, the University had a 7-day positivity rate of 0.1%, lower than the 1.3% positivity rate in Santa Clara County and 2.5% in California. Track our progress on our COVID-19 Dashboard.

 

Entry Testing

Entry testing for the start of fall term is now complete. Students in residence halls are required to continue testing weekly throughout the quarter. All off-campus students are highly encouraged to test as well so we can keep our entire community safe. Visit our Testing Protocol webpage for more information.

 

Upcoming Flu Vaccine Clinics

Due to the ongoing pandemic, flu vaccines are more important than ever to reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses. ​Flu clinics for students will be held October 6 and October 7 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Location TBD. Please visit Prepared SCU for updates.

 

The Proper Way to Test

It’s important to properly self-administer your COVID-19 test. Rotate the swab four full times in each nostril and place the swab in the tube carefully, cotton side down. Tests automatically fail if the test is not provided to the testing lab within 48 hours. Please return your test to any of the collection bins throughout campus as soon as possible after administering the test.

Remember to Mask Up 

The proper use of approved face covering indoors is proven to be one of the most effective ways to prevent community spread of the virus. Let’s also keep each other safe by staying home when sick and not coming to campus.
