SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 28, 2025 – Santa Clara University received more than 20,000 applications for the incoming class, setting a new record and underscoring the growing appeal of its distinctive blend of intellectual inquiry, ethical leadership, and real-world learning opportunities. Notifications for regular decision applicants were sent out on Tuesday, March 18.

The Class of 2029 will include Santa Clara’s second group of 10 Posse Scholars from the Los Angeles area, and 11% of admitted students are Pell Grant recipients. SCU will also welcome the first cohorts of those eligible for the Santa Clara University California Promise and Santa Clara University Cristo Rey Promise programs. These commitments ensure that Cal Grant recipients and graduates of Cristo Rey Network schools have the support to attend SCU for their four-year academic journey.

“Each year, Santa Clara University seeks to admit extraordinary students from across the country and globe—future leaders and changemakers who embody academic excellence and our Jesuit values of service, curiosity, and compassion,” said Eva Blanco Masías, Vice President for Enrollment Management. “Our investments and institutional commitments will ensure that talented students have the opportunity to cultivate their intellect and thrive in our community, regardless of their financial circumstances.”

Members of the Class of 2029 will arrive from 49 states and 72 countries and regions. They have an average GPA of 3.86, and 12% identify as the first in their families to attend college. Additionally, over 800 admitted students are coming from Cristo Rey and Jesuit High Schools.

Admitted students must confirm their enrollment by May 1, 2025. In the coming weeks, Santa Clara will host a variety of events to help students and families learn more about the Bronco experience, including in-person and virtual opportunities to connect with faculty, current students, and alumni.

Transfer students can still apply to Santa Clara until April 15. More than 200 transfer students will join our incoming first-year students this fall.
