Momentum Grows for STEM and Capital Projects with Gifts Totaling $25 Million
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 7 2018—Three multi-million-dollar gifts from new and long-standing Santa Clara University supporters are providing significant momentum to the University’s plans for a transformed campus landscape. The gifts will help major projects come to life, in particular, the 275,0000-square-foot Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation and Finn Residence Hall to accommodate anticipated increased enrollment.
The gifts and pledges that have been made in recent months include generous donations from:
•Stephen A. Finn MBA ’76, executive chairman and founder of Trust Company of America, who is donating the foundational $11 million gift to create the Stephen A. Finn Residence Hall, which broke ground Jan. 30 with a public ceremony. The hall will be located on the south end of campus adjacent to Sobrato Hall.
•An anonymous donor, who gave $10 million for the Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation.
•Don Bruzzone ’60, a longtime real estate developer in the East Bay, who donated $5 million for the Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation and other campus endeavors.
“The Santa Clara community is blessed to have the tremendous financial and strategic support of donors who have turned their own success into a force for good in the world,” said Michael E. Engh, S.J., president of Santa Clara University. “We are profoundly grateful to those who support our mission with donations, as well as with the counsel, guidance, and vision to make Santa Clara an ever-stronger force to produce values-driven professionals and leaders.”
