Humans of Santa Clara: Clara Helm ’25
“I heard about Santa Clara from a friend whose brother goes here. He's a senior now. He had a really good experience on campus. I came here and explored all the programs and really liked the English program here. I visited during COVID which was a little bit interesting. But even just walking around the campus I was like, ‘this is gorgeous.’ I was kind of in between a bigger school and this school but I really liked the personal aspect here. My mom helped me a lot. But it was a little bit of an experience trying to figure out all the application stuff and trying to figure out what it would take to get here. Most of my siblings either transferred or kind of went a different route than me. One of my other siblings lived on campus but she left halfway through the year because of COVID, so I feel like I'll be the first to kind of fully live on campus all the way through. I brought some pictures to throw up and some nice personal things to make my room more homey, like a blanket. It was definitely a lot different trying to figure out how to get here but I'm excited. I’m an English major but I may double major in political science. It’s a lot of pressure to succeed, but it's my own self-pressure. My mom is very supportive.”
