Dear Santa Clara University Undergraduate Students,
Earlier this week we sent out campus alerts notifying you that six Bay Area county public health officers have announced an indoor mask mandate, effective August 3, to help mitigate the spread of the Delta variant of the Coronavirus. This mandate follows California state guidance for the use of face coverings, issued July 28, 2021. The full text of the Santa Clara County public health order and Alameda County public health order are available online as of August 3, 2021.
The indoor mask mandate requires all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear approved face coverings in public indoor spaces. At SCU, this includes all indoor work, meeting, collaboration, lab, classroom or instructional, exercise, recreation, break and rest rooms, as well as the connecting lobbies and corridors. Building signage reflecting the new county health order will be updated shortly. Face coverings may be removed temporarily while actively eating or drinking or while in private residences. Students coming to campus for in-person classes, move-in, or other activities are expected to comply immediately with this new mandate in addition to the SCU COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
Thank you to those who have already submitted their proof of vaccination through their Cowell Center | My Student Health Portal.
Note: If you previously submitted your proof of vaccination via Vax Verify, please know that we have received it, even though a record of it will not show up in your portal until later in the quarter. To expedite the process, you are welcome to resubmit your proof of vaccination through your Cowell Center | My Student Health Portal, but this is not necessary.
For those who have not yet submitted their proof of vaccination, please take the following steps:
- Click on Cowell Center | My Student Health Portal.
- Authenticate your login by entering your date of birth.
- Once inside your chart, click on the "COVID Upload" tab and upload a copy of your COVID vaccination record and complete the required information.
- If you do not see the "COVID Upload" tab, scroll down to the bottom of the titles on the left and upload your COVID vaccination record under the "Immunization Upload" tab and complete the required information.
As an important reminder, anyone experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms must refrain from coming to campus until their symptoms have subsided. If you are experiencing such symptoms, get tested as soon as possible. For more information about on-campus testing, visit our COVID-19 testing protocol webpage. We thank you for continuing to follow safety guidelines and for doing your part to support a healthy and safe return to our campus this fall.
