Dear Santa Clara University Community, Welcome to the Week 9 edition of the Prepared SCU Weekly Roundup. In this Friday digest, we share key information related to SCU’s response to COVID-19. COVID-19 Dashboard UpdateSince last Friday (Feb. 25), there have been 4 new COVID cases in the SCU campus community documented through the Color testing system, or reported by students, faculty, or staff. Track our progress on our COVID-19 Dashboard. COVID-19 Vaccination Booster RequirementMarch 17 is the deadline for SCU faculty, staff, and students to upload their booster vaccine information. Students who fail to obtain their booster AND upload the required documentation by March 17 will have their spring courses dropped. Students must upload a picture of their vaccine card to Cowell Center | My Student Health Portal. Faculty and staff should upload their booster information to Workday. The booster is appropriate for everyone five months after receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccination or two months following the Johnson & Johnson vaccination. SCU will host the last booster clinic on Friday, March 11 at the Locatelli Center from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The booster clinic is only for SCU students, faculty, and staff. Please register for the booster clinic directly with our partner, Carbon Health, who will be running the clinic for the University. There is no cost, and no insurance is needed. If you have problems registering, contact scu-support@carbonhealth.com. Mask UpdateWhile Santa Clara County has removed the indoor mask mandate for most public spaces, SCU continues to require that masks be worn indoors through March 18. We ask for your continued diligence in adhering to this requirement for the next two weeks. Until our community reaches a high level of booster vaccination, we will continue to require masks to minimize transmission on campus. After March 18, masks will be strongly recommended indoors, but no longer required, with a few exceptions. Because of their unique environments, classrooms and the Cowell Health Center will continue to require masks after March 18. Unvaccinated students, faculty and staff will still be required to continue wearing masks indoors after March 18. To prevent a patchwork of mask rules across campus, areas/departments should not impose more restrictive mask requirements than those the University has set. We recognize that many individuals remain apprehensive about being indoors with people who are not wearing masks, and we ask that we all show respect and consideration for those who make different choices regarding masks after March 18. SCU will continue to provide masks to the campus community at several locations throughout campus for those wishing to continue wearing them. Masks remain a simple, effective mitigation measure to reduce the risk of infection and can help to support our community members who remain at high risk from COVID-19. SCU will continue monitoring COVID-19 case numbers and will re-institute mask requirements and other preventative measures should the need arise. EventsMost COVID-19 indoor event protocols will retire beginning March 18. Masks will not be required and food/drink can be served indoors. Indoor "mega events," currently defined by California as greater than 1,000 people, will require proof of vaccination or negative test result (24 hours for an antigen test or 48 hours for a PCR test). Review SCU’s event requirements on campus. Outdoor ClassroomsThe University will continue to make use of outdoor spaces as outdoor classrooms for the spring term. University Library: 1st Floor Arcade, University Library: 3rd Floor Terrace, Dowd Art and Art History Building Plaza.
