Dear Santa Clara University Community, Welcome to the Week 10 edition of the Prepared SCU Weekly Roundup. In this Friday digest, we share key information related to SCU’s response to COVID-19. The next update will be Friday, March 25, 2022. COVID-19 Dashboard UpdateSince last Friday (March 4), there have been 4 new COVID-19 cases in the SCU campus community documented through the Color testing system, or reported by students, faculty, or staff. Track our progress on our COVID-19 Dashboard. COVID-19 Vaccination Booster Deadline - 6 Days Left to Upload!March 17 is the deadline for SCU students, faculty, and staff to upload their booster vaccine information. Students who fail to obtain their booster AND upload the required documentation by March 17 will have their spring courses dropped. Visit scu.edu/boosted for upload instructions and access to FAQs. COVID-19 Vaccination Booster Clinic - TODAYSCU is hosting the last booster clinic TODAY Friday, March 11 at the Locatelli Center from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The booster clinic is only for SCU students, faculty, and staff. Walk ups without appointments will be helped as inventory allows. There is no cost, and no insurance is needed. Reminder about MasksSCU continues to require that masks be worn indoors through March 18. We ask for your continued diligence in adhering to this requirement for the next week. After March 18, masks will be strongly recommended indoors, but no longer required, with a few exceptions. Because of their unique environments, classrooms and the Cowell Health Center will continue to require masks after March 18. Unvaccinated students, faculty and staff will still be required to wear masks indoors after March 18. To prevent a patchwork of mask rules across campus, areas/departments should not impose more restrictive mask requirements than those the University has set. We recognize that many individuals remain apprehensive about being indoors with people who are not wearing masks, and we ask that we all show respect and consideration for those who make different choices regarding masks after March 18. SCU will continue to provide masks to the campus community at several locations throughout campus. Masks remain a simple, effective mitigation measure to reduce the risk of infection and can help to support our community members who remain at high risk from COVID-19. SCU will continue monitoring COVID-19 case numbers and will re-institute mask requirements and other preventative measures should the need arise. Spring Quarter COVID-19 TestingStudents in quarter programs who leave campus for spring break - please get tested for COVID-19 before returning to campus. If you test positive, report your positive test result and observe all isolation protocols and precautions. Entry testing for spring quarter: Graduate students in semester programs do not need to participate in entry testing. All other students returning for spring quarter after spring break, whether living on or off campus, must test twice in the first week - once on Monday or Tuesday and then again on Thursday or Friday - using Color PCR tests. Students who have tested positive within the past 90 days should use rapid antigen tests, available at the Health Ambassadors’ table outside the Learning Commons. Week 2 through the end of quarter: For students who are fully vaccinated and boosted, SCU will suspend the requirement of weekly asymptomatic surveillance testing. Weekly testing, via Color, will continue to be required for students, faculty, and staff that have approved COVID-19 vaccine exemptions. Mandatory weekly testing via Color will be required for new hires whose vaccination or booster are in progress. Voluntary (optional) testing through Color will be available to all students, faculty, and staff through spring quarter. Rapid antigen tests will be available for students, faculty, and staff who may be symptomatic, or who have been exposed to a known case. Anyone with COVID symptoms must test before attending class or work. Rapid tests will be available primarily from the Health Ambassadors on campus. EventsThe SCU events protocol page has been updated to reflect post-March 18 event guidelines. No changes have been made to existing event guidelines between now and March 18.
