Dear Staff Colleagues,
As we approach the end of the academic year, I am full of gratitude for the remarkable contributions of our staff during this incredible year. You have been stalwart in your service to our students and the University. You have borne the weight of keeping the University operating in a time of great uncertainty and many transitions. The Cabinet and I are very grateful for your hard work, long hours, and adaptability amid unprecedented change.
To recognize you for your tireless service to the University, I am happy to announce that this year, at the recommendation of the Cabinet and with full Cabinet support, Tuesday, July 6, 2021, through Friday, July 9, 2021 will be administrative closure days, in addition to the July 4th holiday (observed on Monday, July 5, 2021). To those who provide essential services and work during this week, I offer my special thanks for your generous service in ensuring the continued operations of the University. We ask that supervisors allow for alternative days off for any staff who are required to provide essential services during July 6-9, 2021.
With these additional days off, my great hope is that each of you will take time to rest and rejuvenate after a very long year. I invite each of you to truly disconnect and take a break from email and the demands of your work life so that you can fully benefit from the closure days. May you all enjoy this time off in the comfort and company of your loved ones.
Thank you again for your enduring dedication to Santa Clara and your steady support of our mission. Stay safe and healthy!
With gratitude,
Lisa A. Kloppenberg
Acting President
