Majors in Anthropology
This Immersion experience to Chiapas, Mexico is designed to educate students about Indigenous Sovereignty and Human Rights. We will engage with Indigenous communities in Chiapas and learn about the ways in which they advocate for social and economic justice. This trip is meant to help students engage with people of different religious, political, and ethnic backgrounds in order to become more-informed advocates for the indigenous community.
As an anthropology major, I’m interested in shedding light on the experiences of communities that have been historically marginalized. Learning about the challenges that Indigenous communities in Chiapas face would help me bring a more nuanced approach to healthcare policy and help me advocate for social and economic justice for indigenous people in my home state of Arizona.
